The father of a Wuesthoff Medical Center patient in Rockledge, Florida, is suing the hospital over the death of his 31-year-old daughter, Shannon.

According to an article by Florida Today, “The lawsuit contends that Wuesthoff’s parent company at the time, Health Management Associates, didn’t want to lose revenues from Lawley being treated at another hospital and kept her in the emergency room instead of transferring her.”

“They did not want to lose the money they could get from her insurance company,” Theodore Babbitt said. “As a consequence she died. She died because she did not get the kind of care she should have gotten.”
