Ted Babbitt, Florida personal injury attorney, wrote an article for The Palm Beach Post about how long a personal injury case should take.

Once it is apparent that there is a permanent injury, a lawsuit should be filed immediately because there could be another delay of a year or more until the trial.

The beginning settlement negotiations with insurance companies are rarely realistic because they make their profits from investing premiums. The longer they can take to pay a claim, the more they make on that investment income. It takes an aggressive attorney to get the case moving and set for trial where realistic negotiations will take place.
