There are many factors to consider before choosing a lawyer to represent you in your Florida personal injury case.
While some firms and lawyers may have great advertising, this alone does not make them a good fit for your case. There are tools you can use to make sure the lawyer you choose is competent and experienced.
Florida personal injury lawyer, Ted Babbitt wrote an article for the Palm Beach Post on how to choose a lawyer, so that can you be assured you choose a lawyer who is well qualified and competent.
Things to consider when choosing a lawyer include:
- Is the lawyer board certified? To become certified by the Florida Bar the lawyer is required to handle a number of cases, pass an exam to demonstrate competency and be recommended by judges and lawyers that can attest the lawyer has practiced law in the past.
- What should I look for when researching a lawyer? When researching a lawyer, look for the types of cases the lawyer has handled, the results obtained, and awards they have received in the field. Also, find out if they are recognized by their peers in prestigious organizations, such as Inner Circle of Advocates.
- What is the lawyer’s rating? There are organizations and publications that rate lawyers based on their success rate and knowledge in a given field of law. These include Martindale Hubbell® which lists the best lawyers with the highest rating of AV® and Best Lawyers in America© which lists only lawyers recognized by their peers as the most qualified.
