A Catholic priest from the Diocese of Palm Beach is defending his name and reputation.
Father John Gallagher has been fighting this battle through county and Florida courts since 2015 and is now taking his defamation case to US Supreme Court. Father Gallagher, who reported sexual misconduct of another priest, claims the Diocese of Palm Beach made defamatory statements against him, passed him up for a promotion to pastor, and transferred him out of the church.
CBS 12 News interviewed Father Gallagher and his attorney Ted Babbitt.
Babbitt said in the interview: “I see a hero. A man that despite detriments that have been put in his way, despite the punishment he received from the church, he is not giving up.”
